Howdy Friends,

    Apparently this happens every year.  A ton of birds (swifts?) go to this school in NW Portland around sunset.  They circle around for an hour then fly into the chimney right before it’s too dark to see.  It sounds boring but it was really awesome.
    We ended up seeing two hawks tonight as well.  The first showed up a little after we did and perched on the chimney for most of the “dance.”  Close to the end another hawk showed up and attacked the swifts.  I’m not sure who I was rooting for, I don’t want anyone to die.

    I think the hawk got one though.
